What’s a TED Ed Student Talk
A TED-Ed Student Talk is a short, powerful presentation delivered by a student, typically between ages 8–18, that shares an idea worth spreading. These talks are:
- Student-driven and idea-based
- Usually 5 to 8 minutes long
- Focused on learning, curiosity, and impact, not performance
- Presented in a supportive, educational environment
Unlike debates or speeches, TED-Ed talks encourage students to:
- Ask big questions
- Share personal stories
- Explore problems and solutions
- Communicate with confidence and clarity
Why TED-Style Talks Matter for Youth
Participating in a TED-Ed or youth TED-style event helps students develop:
- Public speaking confidence
- Critical and creative thinking
- Writing and storytelling skills
- Empathy and global awareness
- Leadership and idea development
For many kids, this becomes a transformational experience—their first time realizing their voice truly matters.
